Now’s not the time to complain about the Saints game on the Senate floor

The Haboob Blog obviously isn’t a place to wade into the political arena, but here’s a story most sports fans can agree upon.
Somebody needs to tell Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy that sometimes, life isn’t fair. And when things are unfair in games, that is probably a lesser priority than when things are not fair because the government is currently shut down. Debate the reasons for that over in the comments section of your news website of choice, but can we all find agreement that what Bill did on the Senate floor Friday doesn’t look important juxtaposed to said government shutdown?
On Friday, Cassidy spoke on the Senate floor, complaining about the pass inference and helmet-to-helmet hit that wasn’t called on the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday, which helped them force overtime and beat the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship Game.
Bill begins his remarks noting that the government is shut down — and then proceeds to puts together a very nice presentation about Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman very clearly hitting Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis well before the ball arrived AND without turning his head AND in the head.

All the arguments Bill makes are true!
The NFL even halfheartedly admitted a missed call or three by fining Robey-Coleman for the helmet-to-helmet hit on Friday.
That play indeed changed the game, forcing New Orleans to hit a field goal instead of scoring a potential touchdown. That allowed Los Angeles to tie the game up in regulation, and while Drew Brees threw an interception in overtime and that played a role in the Saints losing, it still doesn’t feel great that they needed overtime at all.
We get it!
But now’s just not the time to bring this up, Bill, even if we admit you put forth a lot of effort with the presentation and even got a glossy high-resolution image of the play at Kinko’s.
