MLB Network’s The Shredder ranked Arizona Diamondbacks left fielder David Peralta as the 10th best at his position going into the 2019 season.

The Shredder is MLB Network’s rating formula that focuses on player performance over the past two seasons and a variety of offensive and defensive numbers.

Peralta posted career highs in hits (164), home runs (30) and RBIs (87) last year on his way to winning his first Silver Slugger award.

The 26-year-old last made the list in 2016 after his breakout season the year prior. Peralta checked in just a few spots higher that time at No. 6.

With the subtractions of OF A.J. Pollock and 1B Paul Goldschmidt, Peralta will most likely be the one anchoring the D-backs lineup this upcoming season.

At the top of the list, former D-backs OF J.D. Martinez makes his first appearance on the left fielders’ list. The 31-year-old finished fourth in the AL MVP voting and became the first player ever to win two silver slugger awards in the same season.

Martinez was traded to the D-backs in July of 2017 and helped the team win the NL Wild Card before being eliminated from the postseason by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Martinez appeared on MLB Network’s top 10 right fielders each of the previous four seasons before making the transition to left field with the Boston Red Sox in 2018.
