The Arizona Cardinals made a move in their front office, hiring Matt Harriss as director of football administration on Friday.

Harriss, 39, comes over from the Detroit Lions where he oversaw football administration over the past three seasons.

Prior to his stint in Detroit, Harriss worked with the New York Giants. There he worked as the team’s director of football operations.

Harriss saw success as a member of the Giants front office as the team won two Super Bowls (XLII and XLVI) during his 10-year career in New York.

Harriss got his start in the NFL in 2001 as an intern for the football operations department. He then worked as a player personnel analyst for the NFL management council, spending five years with the NFL league office before making the move to Detroit.

He replaces Mike Disner, who was hired by the Lions in January. Disner oversaw salary cap management while serving as director of football administration for Arizona.

Disner saw six seasons (2013-18) in the desert. With the team, he oversaw contract extensions for key players such as Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald and Patrick Peterson.
