What a Monday it was for D-backs top pitching prospect Jon Duplantier.

First, it was announced the 24-year old was getting called up to the majors for the first time in his career.

An emotional exchange with his parents where he told them the news followed, and by the evening, Duplantier made his MLB debut.

It was quite the debut for Duplantier, who threw three scoreless innings and recorded his first save in a 10-3 win against the San Diego Padres.

“Unbelievable,” Duplantier said about his debut in a postgame interview with Fox Sports Arizona. “The last 36 hours have been crazy. I’m just happy to be here.”

Duplantier touched 93 mph on his fastball and was able to mix in his off-speed pitches, allowing just one hit while striking out two.

Duplantier needed all of two batters to record his first strikeout, a swinging K on Franchy Cordero on a tailing fastball.

Other highlights from the outing included inducing a ground ball double play from $300 million man Manny Machado and striking out Greg Garcia to end the game.

Duplantier was able to get the save despite the seven-run lead because he pitched three innings.

The save came on the heels of another impressive MLB debut, this one from starter Merrill Kelly, who pitched six innings to pick up his first MLB win.

Whether Duplantier’s time with the big league club is permanent or just temporary because of the D-backs’ poor pitching to start the season is still unknown, but Monday was still a day to remember for him.
