Defensvie tackle Renell Wren became the second Arizona State player off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft when the Cincinnati Bengals used their fourth-round pick to nab him Saturday.

Wren follows ASU receiver N’Keal Harry, who was drafted Thursday at No. 32 by the New England Patriots.

As a redshirt senior, Wren produced 43 tackles, 4.5 for loss, and a sack this past season. He finished the year strong with seven tackles against Arizona in the regular season finale and six more in the Vegas Bowl loss to Fresno State.

A projected mid-round pick, a deep defensive line class in 2019 didn’t push Wren too far down the board.

At the Senior Bowl, Wren measured in at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, well above his listed weight of 297 pounds from his senior year with the Sun Devils.

Later on at the NFL Draft Combine, Wren weighed 318 pounds and was 6-foot-4 7/8 inches. That added bulk projects well if teams see him more as a 3-technique.

His wingspan was 81 6/8 inches, and he had a 33 7/8-inch arm at the combine.
