Arizona State football assistant director of player personnel Fred Gammage III announced Wednesday that he would be leaving the program for a scouting job within the San Francisco 49ers organization.

Gammage posted the statement below on his Twitter feed.

“If you know me, you would know that the thought of leaving Tempe, Arizona has never crossed my mind. However, God has another plan for me,” Gammage wrote. “He has blessed me with an opportunity to join the San Francisco 49ers organization as a full time member of their pro scouting department.”

Gammage, who played for the Sun Devils as a wide receiver from 2013-2016, joined the Sun Devil football program in May of 2018 as a player personnel assistant after interning with the football management staff during the summer of 2017.

A Phoenix native, Gammage attended Brophy Prep and later walked-on at ASU, where he had 52 receptions and 537 yards in 27 games during his four years with the Sun Devils.
