Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo announced Thursday after a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers that the club will be optioning infielder Domingo Leyba and activating starting pitcher Taylor Clarke from the IL.

On Friday, the team additionally announced that pitcher Jon Duplantier was also coming off the IL but was optioned to Reno.

Clarke will get the start on Friday for the D-backs at Chase Field.

After making his MLB debut this year and going on to pitch 10 games (nine starts), Clarke went on the IL on July 3 with lower back inflammation. On July 13, he was sent on a rehab assignment with the Single-A Visalia Rawhide.

Despite a 6.21 ERA, Clarke has had bright moments in his debut season. The 26-year-old right-hander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in six of his nine starts and allowed just two runs in six innings in his first-ever MLB start on May 7.

Duplantier owns a 4.32 ERA in 25 big-league innings over eight appearances (three starts). He was placed on the IL on June 12 with right shoulder inflammation.

Leyba, 23, has appeared in 10 games for Arizona. In nine at-bats, Leyba has three hits. In Triple-A Reno this year for the Aces, Leyba is hitting .304 with 15 homers and 54 RBI. He has 59 runs scored in 74 games and 26 doubles.

The second game of four against the Brewers is set for first pitch at 6:40 p.m. on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
