D-backs at Padres – Mon.

Sep 1, 2014, 11:28 PM | Updated: Sep 3, 2014, 4:03 am

Here’s a look at Sunday’s contest by the numbers:

3

D-backs third baseman Jake Lamb struck out three times Monday, as his strikeout rate at the major league level jumped to 39.3 percent. Lamb struck out significantly less in the minors this season, with a frequency rate of just 26.2 percent. At the moment, the rookie has twice as many strikeouts (24) as he has hits.

D-backs newcomer Nolan Reimold, who batted behind Lamb in the batting order Monday, also struck out three times in the game.

4.6

Cahill’s control woes upped his walks-per-nine rate to 4.6. The right-hander has now issued 48 walks this season — including two intentional. He has also hit three batters. Cahill’s 2014 season has been his worst yet, when it comes to control.

5.06

Cahill’s ERA jumped up to 5.06 Monday, after he allowed three earned runs in 4.0 innings.

8

Anderson tied a career high with eight punchouts on the afternoon. He also reached the feat on three prior occasions — June 8, July 7 and July 28.

13-of-15

Trumbo has looked far more comfortable at the plate lately. He reached base Sunday with a single in the third and an RBI single in the seventh. The D-backs oufielder has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games at Chase Field.

14

Blackmon’s solo shot in the fourth inning was his 14th of the campaign, including his second in as many days. The round-tripper gave him 64 RBI for the season. Of those 64 RBI, nine have been recorded against Arizona — 14 percent of his total production.

17

Jordan Pacheco’s RBI single off of Jorge De La Rosa was his first since Aug. 3 — a span of 17 appearances.

40

Hill recorded his fourth multi-hit performance of the month, collecting an RBI single in the first, a triple in the fourth and an RBI double in the seventh. The veteran’s triple was the 40th of the season for Arizona, which leads the National League teams in that category.

43

Hill’s single in the opening frame plated center fielder Inciarte. For Inciarte, the run was his 43rd of the season — good for second in the National League among rookies (Cincinnati’s Billy Hamilton has 70).

89

With his eight-strikeout performance, Anderson increased his season total to 89. Only New York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom has more (106) among all NL rookies.
