Former Phoenix Suns guard Isaiah Thomas named runner-up to NBA Sixth Man of the Year award

Former Phoenix Suns guard Isaiah Thomas was named runner-up for the Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year award Monday.
The award, which is voted on by the media, is given to the player who made the biggest impact for his team off the bench. Stipulations are that they must come off bench more than they start throughout a season.
Toronto Raptors guard Lou Williams won the award with 78 first-place votes and 502 total points. Thomas finished with 33 first-place votes and 324 points.
Thomas played in 46 games for the Suns and was tied as the third leading scorer on the team with 15.2 points per game before he was traded to the Boston Celtics. He led Phoenix 10 times in scoring and scored 20 or more points in 16 games. Thomas also averaged 3.7 assists in 25 minutes per game, while he shot 39.1 percent from the three-point line in his time in the Valley.
His scoring pace actually picked up after he was traded in February. In his 21 games with the Celtics, he averaged 19 points, 5.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game in his 26 minutes per contest.
