Grace thinks D-backs better than 2010, not that it takes much

The 2011 Arizona Diamondbacks are worse than the 2010 Arizona Diamondbacks. At least they are through the first eight games of the season. See, last season’s team started the season 5-3 while the current incarnation of the team is just 4-4.

Just because they are a game worse in the record books than this time last year, something is different about this year’s team. They seem to have an edge to them. One that has helped them fight back in games early on. That is an instinct they lacked in 2010.

Don’t take my word for it though, take the word of former D-backs first baseman and current team broadcaster Mark Grace.

“This team is playing good hard baseball,” Grace told Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash Monday. “[Sunday] afternoon, for instance, I don’t think they win that game last year. I think they would have tucked their tail and just accepted the fact that ‘Cincinnati’s better than us today.’ I think last year’s team accepted losses way too well and I think this year’s attitude any loss is unacceptable. Even if you’re not the best team in the division or the best team in the league, you have to have that kind of an attitude and slowly but surely it’s starting to show itself.”
