After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for May 10, 2011: Giants 1, Diamondbacks 0
It was a classic pitchers duel between Arizona’s Ian Kennedy and San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum.
Both pitchers were fantastic throwing eight shutout innings and both only giving up four hits.
However, when the ninth inning came around, both managers went to their bullpen.
The Giants Brian Wilson did his part, but D-backs reliever David Hernandez couldn’t hold serve as Cody Ross’ RBI single was the difference in the game.
Obviously, Arizona didn’t do much offensively only getting five hits, one coming from the pitcher Kennedy, and all hits being just singles.
It was just another loss for Arizona, but starter Ian Kennedy has really begun to develop into a front line pitcher who gives the D-backs a chance to win every time he takes the mound.
They’ll just have to do a little bit better job of giving him something to work with in the future.
