PHOENIX – Bob Melvin has agreed to return to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and serve as an adviser to the front office.

For Melvin in his third stint with the Diamondbacks franchise, it marks a return to where he feels most comfortable.

“I’ve always felt at home here,” said Melvin on the Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash show on Tuesday.

Melvin’s return was started based on a conversation with former player Luis Gonzalez who sang the organization’s praises.

“From all I hear, things are a lot different around here and that’s a step in the right direction,” said Melvin.
