Well that was fast. Bob Melvin has already ended his third stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks less than a month after it began.
On Thursday morning the Oakland Athletics announced that they had fired their manager Bob Geren and replaced him with Melvin.
#Athletics announce today that Bob Geren has been relieved of his duties and ex-MLB manager Bob Melvin has been named interim manager.
Melvin had rejoined the organization as an adviser to the front office back on May 17. He had previously held the title of bench coach under Bob Brenly and manager from 2005 until he was fired 29 games into the 2009 season.
Melvin also managed the Mariners and has a 493-508 record as a manager in the majors.
