After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for June 10, 2011: Diamondbacks 9, Marlins 5
The Good:
Ryan Roberts got things going for the D-backs right off the, well, bat. On a 2-1 count in the top of the first inning, Roberts blasted a leadoff homer to left. In the game, Roberts only had one hit but he earned two RBIs.
The Bad:
Ian Kennedy almost let things slip for the D-backs in the fifth inning. He gave up six hits prior to the inning and looked to be struggling a bit, but in the fifth he looked like he was throwing batting practice. He gave up back-to-back home runs, scoring three total runs.
The Funky:
The D-backs six extra-base hits tonight (3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR) increased their NL-leading total to 211 extra base hits. They trail only the Boston Red Sox who have 222 extra base hits this season.
