While the 82nd Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be thrilling to Arizonans regardless of who is playing, the game will certainly be more exciting if there are more Diamondbacks on the roster.
It is unclear if Ian Kennedy or J.J. Putz will be named to the roster, because pitchers are not voted upon by the fans, but there are two Arizona position players that are currently in the top ten in voting.
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki currently leads all shortstops in voting, but Stephen Drew ranks fifth.
Drew is currently hitting .295 with four home runs and 39 RBI. Drew, who has performed well for the majority of the season, is in the middle of a hot streak.
Over the first six games of the Diamondbacks current seven game road trip, hi is hitting .375 with six RBI.
Drew is not the only D-back among the leading vote-getters and outfielder Justin Upton is tenth among National League outfielders.
Upton, who is hoping to be named to his second All-Star game, is hitting .272 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI so far this season.
