Upton plays better when the games matter

There are plenty of reasons for Justin Upton’s resurgence this year.

Upton, in his fourth full season with the Diamondbacks (fifth overall), is hitting .291 with 12 home runs and 35 RBI for a team that is contending for the NL West crown. And that, he said, is one of the reasons for his good play.

“It’s not a drag coming in here, you know, 10 games out of first place,” Upton told Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash Friday. “We’ve got a chance to come an inch closer every night, so your attitude is different when you step in the yard.
