Chase Field attendance on the rise

Fans like winners.
No one likes to spend money to support and watch a losing team, but as the Diamondbacks continue to win, attendance at Chase Field continues to grow.
“Game attendance closely correlates with winning, and though the Diamondbacks are doing just that, it usually takes a while for the fans’ psyche to catch up with what’s happening on the field,” Ray Artigue, a former executive with the Phoenix Suns told the Phoenix Business Journal. “They tend to be cautious before they recommit themselves.”
There were more than 39,500 fans in attendance for the Father’s Day loss to the White Sox. For the entire three game set against the White Sox, the D-backs averaged 32,940 which was the most for any series this season.
Arizona also averaged 32,750 for their series against the Twins in May.
For the entire season Arizona is averaging 23,750 fans per game but that number should continue to increase if the team remains in contention.
In addition to the team’s success on the field, the increase in attendance is also believe to be due to the team’s marketing campaigns.
“The D-backs have done a pretty good job with local marketing,” sports marketing expert Scott Harkey said. “The billboards, value packs, PR and media campaigns are very solid.”
An increase in attendance is certainly a welcomed sight at Chase Field, but the D-backs do not have the same passionate and loyal fans that the Cubs, Yankees and Red Sox do. Meaning that if the team begins to falter in the summer, odds are attendance will too.
