After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go Inside the Box for July 4, 2011: Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 6

The Good:

The Diamondbacks offense and their bullpen were the reasons for the victory over the Brewers on this Fourth of July holiday. The offense scored at least one run in the last six frames, including two in the top of the ninth to break a 6-6 tie.

Miguel Montero and Wily Mo Pena both hit solo home runs. Ten different Diamondbacks recorded a hit on the day with six players getting at least one RBI.

The bullpen pitched five scoreless innings after starter Daniel Hudson gave up six runs in the first four innings.

The Bad:

The baserunning at times nearly cost the Diamondbacks. In the top of the eighth both Montero and Juan Miranda were thrown out at third base for the first two outs of the inning.

The Ugly:

Daniel Hudson’s pitching line. Hudson lasted four innings, giving up five earned runs on eight hits. He gave up a grand slam to Brewers pitcher Shaun Marcum.

Hudson’s bullpen and the offense came to the rescue and took him out of getting the loss in the game.
