ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Derrick Hall having fun, ready for series with Milwaukee

The Arizona Diamondbacks have surprised a lot of people this season and the president and CEO of the team is one of them.

“This season turned out better than I thought,” Derrick Hall said on Arizona Sports 620’s Doug & Wolf Show.

The regular season may have turned out well, but a match-up with the Milwaukee Brewers awaits and the D-backs are playing the team with the best home record in baseball this season.

Hall said he “loves” the D-backs match-up with the Brewers to start the playoffs and that, in a short series, anything can happen.

“The Brewers play so well at home, it’s scary. I mean, they are the best home team in the playoffs and we’re starting here,” Hall said. “They’ve been so hot and at times hot teams either cool down or they stay hot, let’s hope they cool down.”

The D-backs have been led by a gritty manager all season long in Kirk Gibson, who regularly rejects any mentions of awards or even success and has kept his eye on the prize. As the team prepares for Milwaukee, Hall said fans can expect more of the same.

“Gibby, he doesn’t care who the opponent is, he just wants us to take care of our own business,” Hall said. “He doesn’t care who it is, he just thinks we have a way to win and we’ll find a way to win. I love that. That’s been the attitude all year long.”
