The Arizona Diamondbacks continued their roster tweaking on
Monday, signing free agent outfielder Jason Kubel to a two-
year contract.

Kubel, is a 29-year-old left-handed hitter, who has spent
his entire career with the Minnesota Twins who drafted him
in the 12th round of the 2000 amateur draft.

Last season, Kubel hit .273 with 12 home runs and 58 runs
batted in. Kubel’s best season came back in 2009, when he
clubbed 28 homers and drove in 103 runs while batting .300
for the American League Central champions.

Kubel has played both right field and left field extensively
in his career, and could push Gerardo Parra for the starting
left field spot. Parra batted .292 last season and won his
first career Gold Glove.
