The Arizona Diamondbacks and left-handed reliever Craig
Breslow avoided arbitration and agreed on a one-year
contract worth just under $1.8 million.
Breslow, 31, was acquired in December by the Diamondbacks
from the Oakland Athletics in the trade that also brought
Trevor Cahill to Arizona.
Last season Breslow posted a record of 0-2 and a 3.79 ERA in
67 appearances out of the Oakland bullpen. In the last
three seasons, Breslow has pitched in 219 games, the most in
the American League during that span.
Breslow had reportedly filed his arbitration paperwork at
$2.1 million, and the D-backs countered at $1.5 million.
Breslow earned $1.4 million last season.
