Gibson: ‘I feel like we’re the underdog’

Mar 21, 2012, 5:33 PM | Updated: 6:33 pm

They are the defending National League West champions,
winning 94 games — third-most in franchise history; yet,
manager Kirk Gibson Wednesday called the Diamondbacks
underdogs heading into the 2012 season.

“That’s just the attitude you’ve got to take,” he explained.
“You can’t take anything for granted.

“I think we know we’re good,” Gibson continued. “But I think
we understand we got to carry the lunch-bucket everyday.
It’s just a tremendous committment mentally and physcially,
and as a team, together that we’re going to encounter. Why
we get excited about that? I’m not sure. But we do.”

Other news:

*Aaron Hill turns 30 today

*Jason Kubel (sore quad) was pulled from the lineup

*Daniel Hudson will pitch 4-5 innings, pitch count 70-75

*Josh Collmenter is the fifth starter but “if he’s not
healthy then we’ll chanage”
