The Arizona Diamondbacks are about embark on a new season
with the goal to defend the National League West title,
and they’ll do so by facing off against division rival San
Francisco.

Ace Tim Lincecum is scheduled to start for the Giants on
Friday, coming off an excelling year.

Last year, Lincecum had a 2.74 overall ERA and a 13-14
record. The phenom, who won back-to-back Cy Young Awards
in 2008 and 2009, also earned a place on the All-Star Game
roster for the fourth year in a row.

However, Lincecum faltered against Arizona in 2011,
posting a 0-3 record and a 4.32 ERA in his 25 innings of
work.

In comparison, Lincecum tallied a 2.06 ERA and 5-5 record
against the rest of the NL West in 2011.

Lincecum also has a weak track record at Chase Field.
Since his debut at the ballpark in 2008, Lincecum’s record
is 3-2 with a 4.13 ERA, but he holds a 2.98 ERA for his
career in the MLB.

His last game at Chase was in September 2011. It was
Lincecum’s only performance in Arizona for the season, and
he gave up eight hits and five runs in his five innings.
Lincecum also caused some drama, hitting Justin Upton in
the front of his helmet in the first inning. The D-backs
won the game 5-2.
