Talk about your bad timing.
After getting off to a red-hot start, Arizona Diamondbacks’
center fielder Chris Young has landed on the 15-day disabled
list with a right shoulder contusion. Veteran Cody Ransom
had his contract selected from Triple-A Reno to fill Young’s
roster spot.
Young was batting .410 with 5 home runs and 13 runs batted
in through the first 11 games of the season. He suffered
the injury after crashing into the outfield wall in the
fourth inning of Tuesday night’s 5-4 loss to the Pittsburgh
Pirates.
Ransom had appeared in 10 games with Reno, hitting .294 with
2 home runs and 9 RBIs.
This roster moves comes after Arizona placed infielder Geoff
Blum on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left
oblique and called up A.J. Pollock from Reno to replace him
on the active roster.
