Gibson not sure if there’s room for Vladimir Guerrero on D-backs

Diamondbacks General Manager Kevin Towers went to the
Dominican Republic to work out former All-Star Vladimir
Guerrero.
Guerrero, 37, spent last season with the Baltimore
Orioles, where he hit .290 with 13 home runs and 63 RBI.
While he’s certainly not the player he once was, if the
guy can still hit, there will be a place for him on
someone’s roster.
Just maybe not the D-backs’.
“We’ve had discussions on that because right now we have
four very good outfielders, even with Pollack here, when
CY comes back,” D-backs skipper Kirk Gibson told Arizona
Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo.
Gibson said Young, out since April 18 with a shoulder
contusion, took 35 swings off the hitting tee Monday.
“When he comes back you have to look, what does that mean
then,” he said.
Chances are, if the Diamondbacks add Guerrero and his 449
career home runs it will be for interleague play, which
starts May 17th in Kansas City, where Arizona’s will need
a designated hitter in the lineup.
