Kevin Towers optimistic about pitching prospects

You’re seeing a glimpse of it this season, and we’ve talked about it in the past, but it can’t be said too many times just how well the Arizona Diamondbacks upper management has done at drafting and bringing in talented prospects, specifically on the mound.
Diamondbacks GM Kevin Towers joined Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf on Wednesday and has rather high expectations for his group of young pitchers.
“You’d probably have to go back to the Atlanta Braves. We’re hoping that we have a Greg Maddux, a John Smoltz, a Kent Merker, and Tom Glavine, people like that.”
In 1995 that four man rotation went 54-24 for the Braves, leading them to a World Series win while all four were under the age of 30. The rotation of Wade Miley, Tyler Skaggs, Trevor Bauer and Patrick Corbin has the potential to reach such a level of success, and it isn’t just those of us in Arizona who believe that.
