Scooby Wright may have entered the 2014 season as a relative unknown in the college football world, but his days in anonymity have come to an end.
Wright is coming off a season in which he tallied 153 total tackles — 29 for loss — along with 14 sacks, six forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He was a finalist for the Walter Camp Award, and was awarded the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award, Jack Lambert Award, Chuck Bednarik Award as well as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.
Heading into his junior year, Wright is also on Phil Steel’s 2015 Preseason All-American Team as a first-team selection.
Wright will be one of the key players for a team that is looking to build off one of its best seasons in recent memory. Last year, the Wildcats won 10 games — including a road win over Oregon and a Territorial Cup victory over rival Arizona State — on their way to a Pac-12 South title and a berth in the Fiesta Bowl.
