Eric Hinske’s time with the Arizona Diamondbacks has officially come to an end.

Hinske, who was designated for assignment by the D-backs back on June 28, was released by the organization Thursday following a brief five-game stint for Triple-A Reno in which he went 1-for-18 with five strikeouts at the plate.

The 35-year-old infielder, who signed a one-year deal with the D-backs in December 2012, appeared in 52 games this season and hit .173 with one home run and six RBI.
