Jul 22, 2013, 11:09 PM | Updated: 11:09 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled pitcher Tyler Skaggs from Single-A Visalia Monday, in time for him to start against the Chicago Cubs that night.

To make room for Skaggs, the team optioned pitcher Eury De La Rosa to Triple-A Reno.

The 22-year-old Skaggs is 2-1 with a 4.03 ERA in five starts with the D-backs this season, and figures to slide back into the starting rotation.

De La Rosa, 23, made two appearances with the D-backs since being called up prior to the All-Star break. He struck out three in 2.1 innings of work.
