From Seattle: Seahawks D-line has favorable matchup vs. Cards

Sep 6, 2012, 10:56 PM | Updated: 11:58 pm

The Seahawks signed Jason Jones and drafted Bruce Irvin to improve a pass rush that generated just 33 sacks last season.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, are starting backups at both offensive tackle spots due to season-ending injuries to their starters.

Mike Sando of ESPN.com noted those two facts when he joined Bob Stelton and Dave Wyman to preview Sunday’s regular-season opener. Sando called Arizona’s offensive line “vulnerable.”

“They’re going to start a rookie right tackle who probably could use some time and then they’re starting a 30-year-old left tackle in D’Anthony Batiste who has never started at left tackle. He last started in 2007 for Atlanta as a guard. So it’s a real tenuous situation. I think there’s a great risk for them against Seattle,” Sando said.

“If they [the Seahawks] can’t get pressure against D’Anthony Batiste and a rookie on the other side, Bobby Massie, then they haven’t upgraded enough. It will be a great test for them.”

Stelton and Wyman discuss the matchup in the video below.
