Entering Friday’s game against the San Francisco Giants, the Arizona Diamondbacks were reeling — having lost seven of their last nine and winning just one game in each of their last three series.

But a matchup with Tim Lincecum may have been just what the doctor ordered.

Paul Goldschmidt continued his dominance of Lincecum, going 2-for-2 against the right-hander to go along with a walk, and the D-backs rallied out of an early 1-0 hole.

Here’s a closer look at the win, by the numbers:

0

The Diamondbacks’ relief trio of Evan Marshall, Brad Ziegler and Addison Reed didn’t allow a single baserunner over three innings of relief, and Reed struck out the side. Oliver Perez allowed a single in his lone inning of work.

.577

Goldschmidt’s career batting average against Lincecum is now at .577 — 15-for-26 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs — after recording a single, double and walk on Friday.

1

Arizona outfielder Ender Inciarte picked up a hit in his return from the seven-day disabled list, going 1-for-3. He also made a few rangy plays in the outfield on well-struck balls.

2

D-backs starter Josh Collmenter allowed two hits and a run in the opening inning, but settled down and allowed two hits and struck out three over the next four innings. He finished the day by allowing a run on four hits in five innings, though he walked four Giants en route to his first win since May 29.

3

Giants No. 3 and 4 hitters Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval combined to go 3-for-6 with a run and RBI. The rest of the San Francisco lineup went 2-for-25 with six strikeouts.

6

The Giants, who at one time appeared to be running away with the NL West, have now lost a season-high six straight and nine of their last 10. Their lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers is now at just 3.5 games.

17

Reed picked up his 17th save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth. He’s converted 17 of the 19 save opportunities he has had this season, though he’s struggled in non-save situations.
