Eagles’ Vick: Kevin Kolb very resilient

September 19, 2012: Behind Enemy Lines

Michael Vick leads the NFL’s top-rated offense into University of Phoenix Stadium this week. The 471-yards per game average is even more impressive considering the Eagles have turned it over nine times, including six interceptions.

Philadelphia is the third team in the Super Bowl era to start 2-0 despite nine or more turnovers.

Vick spoke to those of us in the local media on a conference call earlier:

on winning despite the turnovers

It says a lot about our team and the character of our team. We have a never-say-die attitude. We just want to make sure we put in the work week-in and week-out. We stick together and play hard for one another.

on winning the close games

It says a lot about the defenses, man. Defenses are becoming relentless. If you look at every team, pretty much around the league everybody has defensive guys who are flying around the ball and executing on the defensive end. It’s not a league where you can just line up and do anything anymore, unless you have great coordinators.

on last year’s game vs. Cardinals

They just did a lot of good things. We had a lot of guys out. We had some guys hurt. They just played a great game. They came in and executed well properly. We didn’t get it done on offense.

on former teammate Kevin Kolb

I’ve just seen a guy who’s been through alot over the last year. He’s been very resilient. I know Kevin. He’s a great competitor. He loves to compete. He’s been doing a great job for that team this year so far.
