The Phoenix Coyotes may have a new assistant coach on Friday.
Jim Playfair, who spent the past two years coaching the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Heat, has been offered a job under Phoenix Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett.
Playfair has NHL experience as he was the head coach of the Calgary Flames during the 2006-07 season. He led the Flames to the playoffs, but they were bounced in the first round by the Detroit Red Wings.
In his two seasons coaching the Heat, Playfair led his team to a 77-61-22 record.
