The Phoenix Coyotes claimed center Gilbert Brule off re-
entry waivers from the Edmonton Oilers, general manager
Don
Maloney announced Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Brule was the sixth overall pick of the
Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and made
his league debut later that year, scoring 2 goals in 7
games.

Brule spent three seasons total in Columbus, scoring a
total
of 12 goals in 146 games.

In 2008, the Blue Jackets traded Brule to Edmonton for
Raffi
Torres, who ironically, will now be Brule’s teammate in
Phoenix.

In his first year in Edmonton, Brule registered career
highs
in goals (17), assists (20) and points (37).

The 5-foot-11, 187 pound Edmonton native had played 27
games
with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey
League
this season, registering 8 goals and 10 assists.

Brule will wear jersey #8 with the Coyotes.

Center Boyd Gordon was also activated off of the injured
reserve list on Tuesday after missing seven games with a
lower-body injury.
