Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan was slapped with a 3-
game
suspension Wednesday night following his hit on Dallas’
Jamie Benn in the Stars’ shootout win on Tuesday. Doan
was
given an elbowing minor for the offense.
According to
NHL.com, Doan will forfeit over $166,000 dollars in
salary.
“I think it is a suspendable offense,” Dallas head coach
Glen Gulutzan commented following the game.
And Gulutzan was right, which is bad news for the Coyotes,
who find themselves tied for 8th in the Western Conference
playoff race with eight games remaining in the regular
season.
The Coyotes will return home following a four-game road
trip
to play three of their next four at Jobing.com Arena,
starting with Thursday’s date against Colorado.
Benn isn’t expected to miss substantial time, and is
listed
as day-to-day.
