Coyotes GM Maloney knows Mike Smith is key

The Phoenix Coyotes are ready.

Pacific Division champs for the first time and Stanley Cup
Playoff participants for the third consecutive season, the
team knows they now must win in the one place they have
not.

“We’re not, per say, a young, young team, that we should
be intimidated at all,” Coyotes GM Don Maloney told
Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo. “This is not new to
us; now it’s a matter of winning.

“And at the end of the day, for us to be successful as a
franchise, you have to win in the playoffs, and this is a
good time to start.”

It sure would be, and what separates this playoff run from
the last two is the man between the pipes, as Mike Smith
is as hot as any goaltender in the NHL.
