Phoenix Coyotes forward Martin Hanzal’s status for the
remainder of the Western Conference Finals is up in the
air.
Hanzal received a five-minute boarding major and a game
misconduct for his less-than-clean hit on Los Angeles
captain Dustin Brown during the third period of the Kings’
4-0 Game 2 win Tuesday night.
A hearing will be held Wednesday and the Coyotes will
await
word from NHL chief of discipline Brendan Shanahan.
“I’m not going to worry about the discipline, the league
will take care of that,” Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett
said following Game 2. “I don’t know what will happen
there.”
Hanzal was one of three Coyotes players to receive a game
misconduct during Game 2. Shane Doan earned an early trip
to the showers for his boarding penalty on Trevor Lewis,
while Antoine Vermette was slapped with a two-minute
roughing
penalty
and a game misconduct in the third period.
Hanzal has never been disciplined by the league.
