The Arizona Cardinals placed running back Ryan Williams on the injured reserve list Tuesday, ending his season.
Williams suffered a shoulder injury during Arizona’s 17-3 loss at St. Louis last Thursday night. The former Virginia Tech star ran for 164 yards on 58 carries this season before suffering the injury.
This is the second straight year that Williams has been on injured reserve. As a rookie in 2011, he missed the entire campaign with a knee injury suffered in preseason.
In another roster move, the Cardinals re-signed cornerback Crezdon Butler. Butler, originally a fifth-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010 out of Clemson, was with the Cardinals in the preseason before being released on August 31. He was picked up by the Washington Redskins and played in two games before being released on September 25.
