Warner sides with owners in NFL labor dispute

Kurt Warner has been away from the football field for over a year and he may have finally found his post career calling. Working in the NFL Commissioner’s office.
That’s because Warner came out on Friday and told the USA Today his thoughts on the NFL’s labor strife and his stance might surprise many around the league.
“I’m still optimistic that they’re going to find a way to make sure there’s football,” Warner said. “The players have too much to lose. And as much as I hate to say it, at some point, the players have to give in. And, hopefully, they can gain some other things on their side.
“But ultimately, they have too much to lose.”
The pro-owner view probably makes Warner popular at the league offices and with his bosses at the NFL Network but it’s surprising when you realize that he’s still good friends with many players around the league.
Any player that takes issue with Warner’s quotes should probably take a long hard look in the mirror. Everything he said is the truth.
At this point the players are the ones with more to lose than the owners. They only have a limited number of years to earn as much as they can before their careers come to an end. The owners have a lifetime.
Even people that can’t figure out how to split $9 billion can figure out that math. A lifetime is much longer than a limited number of years.
Warner will probably take heat for his comments around the league over the coming days. It’s all unwarranted. He spoke his mind and did his job as an NFL analyst. Now it’s time for DeMaurice Smith and the players to do theirs and give us our football back.
