Being a reporter in a locker room of any sport is not as easy as it looks.

Athletes are taught to speak nothing more than simple cliches to the media.

“We will take things one day at a time.”

“I just want to improve and help my teammates get better.”

“We will continue to fight hard every night.”

It can be like finding a needle in a haystack to get a good quote or bit of information from an athlete or coach these days.

What’s the solution to this problem?

Well, sending a cute 10-year-old girl in to ask those hard-hitting questions can’t hurt.

NBC sent the girl in to interview some of the league’s biggest stars, including Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, for their season-long 10-year anniversary of broadcasting Sunday Night Football.

At first, she asked questions expected from a little girl such as favorite super-hero powers and game-day food, before getting into the more challenging questions.

She begins by asking Andrew Luck if spread offenses are to be blamed for the limited amount of quarterbacks being selected in the draft, then asks Clay Matthews if faster and stronger linebackers are the reason teams have been switching to a 3-4 defense.

The looks on the unsuspecting faces of the NFL players are priceless.

Disappointingly, not even a cute little girl could get a good quote from one of her hard-hitting questions.

But she did earn the respect of an impressed Luck, and who wouldn’t want that?
