Humorous as it is to watch Bartolo Colon rumble to a bunted ball along the foul line, that was only the beginning of the awesomeness piled into this clown car of a 13-second highlight.
When the New York Mets pitcher finally reaches the bunt by Miami’s Justin Bour, he calmly throws the baserunner out with a behind-the-back toss to his first baseman.
That is a cool dad move, no?
Colon’s outing wasn’t all flash — there was substance to it as well.
The 42-year-old pitched a complete game on Saturday to lead the Mets to a 7-0 victory over the Marlins. Colon allowed nine hits and struck out two batters on 100 pitches, 74 of which were strikes. That was good enough to put him in the history books for, if anything, proving that age is only a number.
Bartolo Colón (42 years, 104 days): 1st complete game for Mets this season; oldest NYM SP with CG since Warren Spahn (5 CGs, 44 YO) in 1965
