Arizona doomed by early errors, lose 56-30 to UCLA: By the Numbers

Despite a great beginning to the game, No. 16 Arizona failed to keep up with No. 9 UCLA and were defeated 56-30.
Arizona couldn’t ask for a better start to their big game against No. 9 UCLA with a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive. As it turns out, that would be as good as it got for the Wildcats.
UCLA would go on a 42-7 run to end the first half and go on to cruise in the second half.
Arizona had a meltdown after that first offensive possession, allowing two great returns for the Bruins and turning the ball over twice. UCLA turned those four opportunities into 28 points and were somehow in firm control of the game.
Both starting quarterback Anu Solomon and starting running back Nick Wilson left the game due to injury.
Poor tackling by the Wildcats allowed the Bruins and true freshman quarterback Josh Rosen to get rolling early. Despite averaging only 3.5 yards per carry, junior running back Paul Perkins scored three touchdowns and was the clear force driving the Bruins to victory.

Wilson finished with 136 yards. That is already his tenth 100+ rushing yard performance of his career.

Arizona senior quarterback Jerrard Randall ran for a 39-yard touchdown, which is actually his shortest touchdown run of his career. His previous touchdown runs were for 57, 72, and 73 yards.

Rich Rodriguez is now 0-4 against UCLA at Arizona.

Casey Skowron missed a 29-yard field goal to end the first half and also missed an extra point later on. That’s the way things were going for Arizona.

Despite the blowout score, there was only a difference of 37 yards of total offense between the two teams. UCLA finished with 496 yards, while Arizona had 460 yards.
