Evan Marshall throws first bullpen session since head injury

Sep 28, 2015, 7:57 PM | Updated: 7:59 pm

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Evan Marshall suffered a head injury that nearly killed the right-handed pitcher in a game while pitching for the Triple-A Reno Aces on Aug. 4.

Marshall was struck on the head on a line drive off the bat of the batter, which was traveling an estimated 105 MPH when it hit the pitcher’s head.

In just under two months since the scary scene, Marshall is back throwing on the mound.

Marshall tweeted the above video out on Monday night of him throwing his first bullpen session since the injury. He obviously will not return this year with the D-backs as their season is winding down, but it looks like he could be ready to go sooner rather than later.

The right-hander has a career 4-6 record with a 3.45 ERA in 70 career games over two years with the D-backs. He made the D-backs Opening Day roster, but struggled with a 6.08 ERA in his first 13 games before being sent down to Reno.
