Fitzgerald and other big names will be on the field this July

Sources have confirmed to ArizonaSports.com that Larry Fitzgerald will be on the field this July. Too bad it will be of the softball variety and not the football one.

It was announced that the Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver will take part in the annual Taco Bell All-Star Legends and Celebrity softball game that will take place on July 10 at Chase Field. The event is part of the Major League Baseball All-Star week events taking place in Phoenix.

Fitz will be joined by former Diamondback greats Luis Gonzalez and Mark Grace along with national sports stars Mike Piazza, Bernie Williams, Rollie Fingers, Ricky Henderson, Ozzie Smith and others.

On the ‘celebrity’ side of things, American Idol winner and Valley native Jordin Sparks and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers fame are a few of the names scheduled to appear.

It may not be training camp, but any opportunity to see Fitzgerald take part in a competition, even if it’s just friendly, is a fun opportunity for local fans.
