Cardinals weighing free agent options

Jun 27, 2011, 6:20 PM | Updated: 7:23 pm

While most roster talk involving the Arizona Cardinals centers around the quarterback position, they will need to figure a few things out once free agency begins.

According to profootballweekly.com the Cardinals may try to re-sign nose tackle Gabe Watson, while letting Alan Branch go.

On the Arizona free-agent front, we hear it’s a lot more likely the Cardinals will re-sign NT Gabe Watson than Alan Branch to back up 2010 first-rounder Dan Williams. Then again, since the nose tackle plays only 40 percent of the time in the Cardinals’ defensive scheme, it’s quite possible both Watson and Branch could be moving on.

Last year, Watson played in seven games and recorded seven tackles while Branch played in all 16 games, starting three, and was responsible 27 tackles and a pair of sacks.
