Carson Palmer runs forever, scores, spikes, then falls over

Carson Palmer’s go-ahead touchdown run gave his Arizona Cardinals a 19-13 victory against a stingy 49ers squad, but the importance of the touchdown may have been lost behind how it happened.

As you can imagine, the 35-year-old isn’t so graceful on his feet.

But when the majority of the 49ers went to the right side of the field in man-to-man coverage, it left half the field open. Arizona coach Bruce Arians told Arizona Sports 98.7’s Paul Calvisi that he believed Palmer would have room to run the seven yards to the end zone, but he wasn’t exactly confident while watching the play develop.

“Is he ever going to get there?” Arians said of his thought process. “They had played man-to-man and we had taken everybody across the field. I knew he had a chance. Just don’t hurt yourself on the way.”

Palmer’s entertaining touchdown jaunt didn’t end there. He actually got close to hurting himself when he spiked the ball in the end zone and simultaneously rolled to the ground.

Palmer finished the game having completed 24-of-40 passes for 271 yards on top of his seven-yard score that helped the Cardinals avoid the Niners’ upset bid.
