CBSSports.com is reporting the CEOs of the Pac-12 have sent a letter to the NCAA questioning the admittance of for-profit schools to Division I.
The protest seems to be regarding Grand Canyon University, a locally based school that is moving up from Division II to Division I this summer.
The NCAA itself and D-1 are not-for-profit, tax-exempt entities.
According to several sources, the action originated with Arizona State, and several Pac-12 officials have discussed not playing Grand Canyon in any sport.
Grand Canyon’s move to the WAC conference was seen as key to the WAC retaining their automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Antelopes will not be eligible for NCAA tournament play until the 2017-18 season.
