Larry Fitzgerald named best player in NFC West

Jul 8, 2011, 3:38 PM | Updated: 5:42 pm

Larry Fitzgerald is good and everybody knows it.
In fact, he is so good he was named the best player in the NFC West.

Fitzgerald is obviously the best receiver in the division and arguably the league, but to be the best overall player in a division is special.

The NFL is a quarterback driven league so it is a bit unique to see a receiver rated so high which can either be attributed to Fitzgeralds’ talent, the NFC West’s lack of a sklilled quarterback or a bit of both.

Matt William of Scouts Inc. ranked the players and he, like every other football player, coach, analyst and fan, is impressed with the Arizona wideout.

If a down year for a wide receiver is producing 90 catches for more than 1,100 yards, it just shows how great that player really is. Fitzgerald had awful quarterback play to blame for his decreased production in 2010. Fitzgerald is an extremely hard worker and does everything well. His ball skills are the best in recent memory, he catches anything thrown near him and his ability to use his body is unmatched. Arizona’s poor pass-protection (and the guys throwing the ball) limited Fitzgerald’s ability to stretch the field last season, but despite just average playing speed, Fitzgerald is extremely dangerous deep.

Last year, may have been a down year by Fitzsgerald’s high standards, yet he was still productive and his numbers should increase once the Cardinals acquire a new quarterback.
