Cardinals have a thing for Kevin Kolb

If the Cardinals were a single guy at the bar, Kevin Kolb would appear to be the lady they are eyeing from across the way.

At least, that seems to be the case, as the Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers, on Weisman Trophy show, said the Cardinals are “very attracted” to the Eagles QB.

“I think their first call, the first thing they’ll do when the lockout is lifted, is talk to the Eagles and see if they can acquire Kevin Kolb,” Somers said. “They’re very interested in trading for him. They’re wary, however, that the Eagles are going to command a ransom for him. They’re not going to be willing to give that up, but they do like him an awful lot.”

“They like almost everything about him and they think he could be a quarterback really for the next 10 years,” he said. “So, it makes a possible deal intriguing. What do you give up for that guy? Especially for Kolb when he hasn’t proven himself.”

Somers also said the Cardinals have interest in Kyle Orton, Marc Bulger and Matt Hasselbeck, with Orton being being a close second as long as Denver is willing to trade him.

In truth, not much of this is news. While the Cardinals would love to be the team for which Kolb blossoms into an NFL star, the risk of his being a flop could become too great if the asking price continues to rise.

Somers, in fact, said he can’t see the Cardinals parting with multiple first round picks if that is what the Eagles ask for.

That, in turn, could make a guy like Orton, who will likely cost less in trade, or Bulger and Hasselbeck, who won’t cost anything in trade, a good looking option as well.
