Tennis player pauses match to aid injured ballgirl

Jan 20, 2016, 11:12 AM | Updated: 11:52 am

When watching a tennis match, all eyes are on the competitors.

Rarely does anyone think about the other people on the court, most specifically the ballboys and ballgirls.

But it’s not always the case, and in an Australian Open match between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Omar Jasika, the former’s coming to the aid of an injured ballgirl earned some positive attention.

Apparently, the ballgirl was hit in the nose by an errant serve, and as you can imagine, that hurt. Tsonga noticed she was trying to continue through tears, and paused the match to walk over, check on her and take her to the trainers.

Tsonga was victorious in the match 7-5, 6-1, 6-4, but that was not the only reason he left the court that day a winner.
